How much does dog boarding and day care cost in Basildon in 2026?

Fourteen of the 19 dog boarding, day care and home boarding businesses we found in Basildon, Billericay, Wickford and the surrounding area do not publish a price anywhere public — you ring or message and get a quote once they know the dog and the dates. Four publish a day-care or overnight rate. A fifth, Pawfect Pals Essex, publishes a price for dog walking but not for boarding or day care. Together these give a rough floor for what to expect, not a full picture of the market.

What the range tells you

Day care runs from £20 a day at Oatcakes Pet Lodge to £35 a day at Lucky Pups, which only takes dogs by collection and drop-off rather than a walk-in drop-off; Small Paws' weekday rate sits in between at £25 a day. Overnight and home boarding run from £22.50 a night for a single dog at Oatcakes Pet Lodge to £35 a night, either for a weekend stay with Small Paws or for two dogs sharing a double kennel at Oatcakes; Pawfection's rates (£25 promotional, £30 standard) and Small Paws' weekday home-boarding rate (£30) sit in between. That is a sample of four businesses out of 19, so treat it as a starting point for a phone call rather than a fixed market rate for the town.

What can add to the price

Pawfection offers a 50% discount when a second dog from the same household shares a kennel, which lowers the effective rate rather than adding to it. Oatcakes Pet Lodge adds a 50% surcharge on bank holidays and charges double on Christmas Day. Pawfect Pals Essex, a home boarder in Bowers Gifford, charges a mileage supplement of £1 a mile once you are more than four miles from its base — that applies to its published dog-walking rate, since it has not published a price for boarding or day care. Ask directly about bank holidays, a second dog, or collection outside the usual area, since these are common add-ons for boarders and day cares generally.

If you actually need a dog walked rather than boarded

Pawfect Pals Essex is the only business here with a published price for dog walking rather than boarding or day care: £21 a day for one dog, £37 a day for two dogs from the same household. It is also a home boarder, but has not published what it charges for a boarded stay.

The other 14

Isadene, Kingstown Kennels, Tudor Lodge, Kristie Boarding & Grooming, Bullyview, Essex Pooch Palace, Essex Luxury Dog Boarding, Purrfection Pets, the Daisy Hotel for Dachshunds, Helen's Home Boarding, Holly's Hounds, the Little Doggy Inn, George's Doggy Daycare and Paw Prints do not publish a price on their own website, Facebook page or any directory we checked. Several of these carry a 5-star licence rating from Basildon Borough Council's own register — see the companion guide on choosing a boarder for what that rating does and doesn't tell you — but a licence rating says nothing about price. Call or message each one, describe the dog's size and temperament and the dates you need, and ask for a written quote before you book.
