Home boarding or kennels in Chichester and Bognor Regis?
Overnight boarding in Chichester and Bognor Regis comes in two different shapes: purpose-built kennels, where dogs stay in individual runs or pens on a dedicated site, or a home boarder, who takes your dog into their own house instead. Three of the twelve listed businesses run kennels; the other nine are home boarders.
Boarding kennels
Amberley Kennels, at Woodmancote Lane, Hambrook just outside Chichester, is a family-run kennels with a grooming parlour and day-care facility on site, licensed by Chichester District Council. Tharfield Pet Boarding, a small family-run kennels and cattery in Fishbourne, also boards cats alongside dogs and publishes its prices, including a discounted trial night. Carleton Canine Centre, in Arundel and trading since 2001, is licensed by Arun District Council and also offers grooming and training alongside boarding and day care. All three publish set opening hours or drop-off windows, a common feature of a staffed, premises-based kennels that is rarer among the home boarders listed here.
Home boarders
The other nine businesses board dogs in their own homes: Doggie TLC, Dog Dotty and Kate's K9 Companions in Chichester; Chichester Dog Sitters, Lisa's Dog Boarding and Walking and Sussex Petsitters in Selsey & the Witterings; Dog Vision, trading since 2015, in Midhurst & Petworth; Allywags Pet Services, which says it has operated since 2002, in Petersfield & Liss; and Muttlyns, licensed for a maximum of six dogs at a time, in Bognor Regis. Dog Dotty and Chichester Dog Sitters both describe themselves as cage-free, with dogs living in the house and garden rather than a kennel run. As with any home boarder, only the area and town are given on each listing here; the exact address is shared once you book.
Which suits your dog
A nervous dog, or one used to a lot of one-to-one attention, may settle better with a home boarder than in a kennel block, while a dog that copes well away from a family home, or an owner who wants a staffed site with set hours, may prefer one of the three boarding kennels here. Licence status is not the same across either group
All three boarding kennels here are matched to a current council register entry, but two of the nine home boarders — Lisa's Dog Boarding and Walking and Sussex Petsitters — could not be, despite both stating they are licensed. This is not a pattern that runs along the home-boarding-versus-kennels line itself, since seven of the nine home boarders are confirmed too; it is worth checking either type of business's current licence directly rather than assuming a kennels is automatically easier to verify than a home boarder.
